Their mission is to improve the quality of life of the rural communities of the Palajunoj Valley of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala through integrated health and education projects and access to medical, dental, and nutritional services.
Asociación de Mujeres Ixpiyakok (ADEMI) was started in 1984 by 30 indigenous Mayan women who lost their husbands in the civil war. Now, they work with over 30 communities throughout the Chimaltenango and Quiche regions to improve food security and nutrition, economic development, health, and political education.
